Update 20

Liam had another appointment with his orthopedist on Monday. Instead of being escorted to the casting room we were escorted to an exam room. Dr. Albanese looked at his feet and still wanted him to remain cast-free for 3 more weeks to allow Liam’s skin to heal some more. He said he was going to start looking for open surgery dates for Liam. When we find out a surgery date for Liam Dr. Albanese will put him in casts again until his surgery. It’s crazy to think how close his surgery really is. We are happy to have Liam’s legs for a little longer but not thrilled. We’re not thrilled that they are going to keep turning. We’re not thrilled that he might have to be stretched again. We’re not thrilled with how easy it is when holding Liam his legs become bent. When Liam is being held he sometimes cries, whimpers, or just sounds upset so we immediately look at his feet and they are being bent. Andrew and I are getting better about the way we hold him so this does not happen but everyone else aren’t quite aware of it yet which is ok, we wouldn’t expect them to. It’s easy to do and we still find ourselves doing it from time to time. I’m considering finding some kind of slipper that will go on loosely and easily so when people hold him his toes won’t become bent. I almost don’t want anyone to hold him to prevent the pain of his feet from being bent but I don’t want to rob Liam of the love everyone has to give him and I also don’t want to rob everyone else of the love Liam has to give them. So for now I’ll try and get a hold of my mother paranoia lol.

I asked Liam’s doctor if he thinks Liam will be able to crawl and he said it is a cause for concern due to his hips and muscle weakness in his legs. Unfortunately we have to worry about correcting his feet before even worrying about his crawling capabilities.

For those who don’t mind praying for Liam we would ask if you could pray:
*That his feet would stop turning in.
*That his surgery date will be soon so that if his feet do continue to turn in he won’t have to endure a lot more stretching.
*That his pain level will lessen. We wonder sometime if his feet are bothering his because they are turning back in. He started doing random outburst of I’m in pain crying here and there again.
*Also please pray for his near future surgery and recovery. It does concern us that a baby so young has to be put under. It’s a concern for anyone but for a 6 month old it’s even scarier. Then I’m sure it’s going to be a rough recovery. He will be having a full clipping of both achilles tendon and bone reconstruction.
(For those who aren't sure what the achilles tendon is here is an image of it)

*Andrew and I would like some prayer as well. It’s so hard seeing our son go through all this pain. It’ll also be really hard to see him all sedated before and after the surgery.

Again thank you all for your prayers and support. We really appreciate all that you guys have done for us. So thank you and God bless.
