Someone was asking for an update on Liam and I realized ithad been awhile since our last update. May14th we walked into the cast room thinking we were getting full legcasts but much to our surprise Dr. Albanese said he wanted to try half casts onhim. He told us as long as they don’tslip off his legs we could keep them on till Liam’s surgery. 2 weeks passed and we walked into Liam’s appointmenton May 29th excited that Liam could have half casts again but to oursurprise Dr. Albanese said he wanted Liam to take a 2 week break from casts.Liam has deep creases at the back of his ankles and Dr. Albanese wanted them toget some air and to be washed out. Thenwe got one more surprise. He increased the duration from 2weeks to 3 weeks. We were told to keepan eye on his feet. Dr. Albanese said aslong as they don’t start turning in we might be able to keep the casts off tilthe surgery.
Week one went really well. Liam was soat peace, almost like he was relieved to have those big bulky things off hislegs. On Friday of week two Andrew pointed out thathe thought Liam’s feet were turning in. I looked at them and saw that they were. We both weren’t sure at first. Weknew it was possible that we were over-thinking it. Of course it was weighingheavy on my mind that his feet were turning on. Later that day I was holding Liam and I could remember when Liam firstgot his casts of I did not feel his toes in my stomach. Friday night I was feeling his toes rub on mystomach. Saturday I remembered that Ihad a picture of Liam fresh out of his casts so I pulled that out and put thatpicture next to his legs and sure enough his feet had turned in.
Andrew called Dr. Albanese but he wasn’t in the office today. The lady at the front desk told Andrew she’llhave him call us tomorrow. As much as IHATE the casts I’d rather him be in the casts than going back in progress. So we’ll see what happens. His next appointment is on June 18
thbut it might be sooner.
Between writing the first half and this part Upstate orthopedics office calledand wants to keep his appointment til next week. Well I’m not quite as happyabout this. I don’t want his feet toturn in anymore and I need to find a ride to his appointment. Andrew isrequired to be in the office the day of his appointment. I was really hoping they would just say bringhim in this week but that did not happen.
